Third Thursdays in Downtown San Mateo – There is something for everyone.
Third Thursdays, the brainchild of Downtown business owner, Misty Megia of PlayNTrade Video Games, will offer monthly entertainment for the entire Bay Area.
Visitors will experience the unique flavor of San Mateo through local and international art that will be featured in businesses on B Street, from First through Fourth Avenues. All businesses on B Street will stay open until 8 pm to keep the vitality of the street alive and friendly. The Streets of San Mateo are just one of the exciting adventures for families to enjoy in today’s Downtown that is setting the standards for tomorrow’s urban environments.
The Downtown San Mateo Association’s, Third Thursdays, is designed to bring together an eclectic group of businesses and cultures. Artwork will be for sale that evening with proceeds going directly to the artists. The event will conclude with an artists’ reception at a Downtown business.
“Downtown San Mateo is the perfect place to experience arts, dining, and many diverse cultures all in one evening,” said Kelly Mitter, Executive Director of the Downtown San Mateo Association. “With more than 130 restaurants, accessible transportation and parking, and hundreds of retailers and businesses all within walking distance, Downtown visitors have unlimited options for a night out. Third Thursdays was created to enhance our community and vibrancy of our growing Downtown.”
“The Third Thursdays campaign is designed to generate a regular monthly destination that is enjoyable and fun,” said PlayNTrade owner and event organizer, Misty Megia. “On any given Third Thursday, Downtown San Mateo will offer visitors an eclectic evening of arts and entertainment, with an urban flair.”
Subsequent events will be thematic and feature various art genres including photography, fashion, sculture and urban art. Parking is available in public garages and on-street and is free after 6 pm.
The Downtown San Mateo Association promotes Downtown businesses and has the recipe for the perfect night on the town.
